No this server isn't classic, its described as "a classic experience" meaning they try to stay as close as possible to the original within reason, but don't pretend or claim it to be 100% authentic.

Carebear typically implies non-pvp, which this server clearly (already) is. But yes, guards guarding guards is retarded, but then again so are the people with so little going for them they have nothing better to do than grief. Kinda circular...

As to training being classic, I played from launch up to about LDoN. By Velious (I'm being generous) pretty much everyone with an IQ over 50 agreed trainers were mouth breathers that were probably being abused at home and needed to be pitied but not tolerated.

Indeed.

Relive the classic Everquest MMORPG Gaming Experience as it was in 1999 and onward. Project 1999 is a free to play Emulated Everquest Server giving Players the opportunity to experience Classic EQ Once again, starting with the original 3 continents and a max level of 50, with the look and feel of the old interface and several modifications making game mechanics similar to how the game used to be. Project 1999 is the best and most popular classic Everquest experience.

Like it was said above - there are SOME difference that WILL exist. "Classic" wasn't free - not the client, not the monthly ability to play.

As such - the asshats risk nothing but their own time to be asshats.

I've never seen so many people get this defensive about training, you do know what your talking about right? or your one of the repeat offenders that just wants to train people day in and day out.

Congratulations, you're an asshole

I come from emarr. Home of Da'Kor, Ice Clan & at one point, a guild that exuded the type of atmosphere that guilds want on this server: Ebonlore. Ebonlore was disbanded by Uini for training, leap frogging, general mayhem & irreverence to other players, the guild leader banned, and I think every officer banned. Not only that, the guild name of Ebonlore was restricted from usage across all servers. I don't want to get to that point, but it is heading there. However, following that incident, every guild feared Uini, even when she went to other servers; Uini did not mess around. Because of this, rotations held until near the end of Luclin when Magister gave VT to Divine Grace after they'd farmed it empty.

!%&* Ebonlore, !%&* Uini and !%&* Magister. I can't remember the name of the G.I.R.L. Dark Elf SK jackass from Magister, but !%&* him/her too. Oh, and one more thing: !%&* Emarr... I played there and xfered to Povar to join a real guild: Triton.

Sounds like Ebonlore was raping ass and the other two guilds cried to the GM to fix it (I.E Ban them because they play too rough) I liken this to an elementary school playground where everyone is sharing the jungle gym.

Everyone wants to be on top of the jungle gym so they bicker and fight over it, usually just minor squabbles which are resolved rather quickly amongst them, but from time to time there comes a bully who doesn't "Play nice" and is down to throw a punch, trip you, steal your G.I Joes in order to obtain the top spot.

You know you can't beat the bully head on because you'll get thrashed and forced to eat the mud and insects off the ground for the bully's amusement, so you do the only course you know... You tell the teacher get him sent to detention and all is well on the jungle gym again, until that bully gets out of detention and meets you after school.
So because someone doesn't want to get punched, tripped, their toys stolen, eat mud and insects, and otherwise thrown off the jungle gym while they are at a place of learning they are somehow pussies? Great logic, tough guy.

What if the goal of the bannings it just to see how many times someone's willing to waste their time re-creating accounts and finding proxies - while the GM's laugh hysterically?

Then - it would be goal accomplished for them. Who's to say who's the brunt of the joke? lol

Abacab is like the salt.

A little bit is great!

..but Aba, you gotta remember that a little bit goes a long way, and that just a bit more ruins the entire dish.

..your "friends" however.. ..more like a fly in my soup.

Why not do the following:

1. Require any new accounts to provide a legit ISP provided e-mail address (no gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc.)

2. Require the new player to reply to the e-mail for activation AND have that reply be verified by a GM. (This adds more work for GMs though)

3. Block all known proxies/proxy website(is this possible)?

4. For EC just increase the speed of the NPCs in question to 2x-3x SoW (nobody kills them anyway, so that won't effect any non-griefer PCs.)

5. Ban any guilds that allow their players to do this form of intentional griefing) and also do temp (3 day bans) on the accounts of all the members of that guild (This may make guilds more selective if they know they invite a bad seed, they are shut out).

Dealing with guild drama is part of the raid encounter imo, staff accordingly.

I remember we got trained once with an assload of giants doing AoW by an SK named Delph... we called the event the Ring of Delph!
