Keep away from Crushbone and Mistmoore, and already your survival chances greatly improve. Those few fungi twinks are lazy, if they log in and nobody is there to kill they'll log out again rather than roaming much beyond those areas.
This is true, most of them are melee chars, so they are not very mobile.
Most of them seem to stick to one zone.. exception being Iool who surprised everyone by migrating from Unrest to HighKeep.

If you think you'd enjoy a truly fresh EverQuest experience, you won't find it on "other servers", make it red this weekend...
The server is called red99? I believe I might give this red99 a try, it sounds very exciting, thank you!

Language is only as powerful as you're willing to let it be.

For me, being able to use actual expressive language without worrying about offending some dude who still thinks his mom will beat him for saying "fuck" is a big plus.
I don't think it is so much the language but rather the image you portray about the Red community when you use such language. By being both vulgar and condescending, you are making Red look less attractive to the more mature player base, like myself.

I mentioned in another thread that Red would be an amazing server if it would only succumb to both a big attitude adjustment and meaningful, player enforced PvP rules set. Link: http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...87#post1899387

It was a rhetorical question.

I know it is and it describes the climate of red so well. The use of homophobic and racial slurs was so rampant that people had to revert to using code to continue insulting each other with the least amount of class possible. If that isn't telling of the general population there, I'm not sure what is.
It's one thing to click on a thread about a server you don't like, its another to keep coming back and trolling it. Proof that there's bad people on the internet no matter what game or server you play on.

Red is enjoyable folks, if you can't get a camp on blue tonight... keep it in mind <3

It's the PVP ruleset that makes red less attractive. MMOs have always had significantly fewer PvP players than pve players. The idea that I'm going to drop all of my money if I get killed isn't exactly something that players clamor for.

To put it another way, if you can't handle being called a name in a video game, you probably can't handle being killed in a video game either.

To that, I agree.

I agree to this as well. However, while I do have thick skin, if I PvP and kill someone, that person calling me a f'ing c*nt, is not called for and only solidifies their poor sportsmanship and immaturity; something I have no tolerance for in any situation, MMO games not withstanding.

That is so spot on. Nailed it.

The issue is exactly the second paragraph. But this all boils down to one simple question.

Do I want to poopsock my life away on Blue or can I deal with a few PK's, have whatever camp I want with my group and level to 60 faster than anyone on Blue?

Lol it sounds silly even reading the question out loud.

Greetings all.

I'm intrigued, and have been around the block a few times with respect to PvP. I have a couple of questions though.

First, the rule set seems to be inconsistent, to be polite.

A fungi tunic twink comes at me and I will do two things. First, accept that death is inevitable. Second, I train the sh*t out of the twink. Corpse camping is legal, with a caveat, but legal none the less. But you cannot use your immediate environment to defend yourself?

The rules should be consistent: ie. there are no rules. The environment is a tool to be used as deemed appropriate by the players involved.

My second question has to do with the end game. I recently played on a vanilla wow pvp server and it was ugly. Once you got to the endgame the focus was on the leaderboard, which meant that the highest level players would kill the lowest levels that would still provide "honor" points. Semantics aside, the reality was that the game was no longer playable.

Same people. Same time zone. Same limited number of end-game zones. One cycle of endless ganking.

Also, I doubt the loot and scoot stuff is enforced because the staff are probably overworked as it is.

I'm considering giving it a shot, but would like to hear about the end game, as well as the justification that corpse camping is ok but training is not.

Thanks.

You carry gems on red... if you're carrying anything more than 20pp in coins you should convert it/bank it.

I'll make that one of the next red lessons - its not rocket science.

Tamtam got caught out at Overthere bank for over 30k plat but its very unusual to see.

See, it's stuff like this that's going to make me play on the server. Things like that really appeal to me.
