I have played and tried leading and raiding with a guild on blue last year. It was utterly toxic, disgusting, and draining to my soul. It is not worth it for someone with a life to sit in line for a rotation, poopsock mobs, deal with countless guild leaders walking on eggshells just for a chance at one mob every 2months.

The process it took JUST to get into the rotation was horseshit. I had to suck up to everyone on the R rotation just so my guild could be deemed "acceptable and on trial" for a chance on the rotation. It made me feel like I was swallowing my pride just for pixels and at that point i was no longer having fun.

I don't have the time or patience to log in at 2 or 3AM on a weekday on the drop of a dime because I got batphoned. That is not how raiding should be...

I played on red on and off while I was playing on blue last year and had a lot of fun. I came back to P99 after a one and a half year break and went immediately to red. So much more relaxing. No long lines for a camp. Groups to be had if you look. I am not sure what the high end raiding competitive scene looks like, but I don't care. It has to be better than 20 guilds waiting in line on a rotation.

Just my 2 cents.

For the record, Swish is a good guy and I admire his efforts to recruit for Red. If only the rest of the Red community was as nice, respectful and welcoming as he. I tried Red because of Swish, and while I discovered it was not my kind of server; I would not exactly discourage anyone from trying it.

I like blue "because" of the line waiting. It reminds me a lot of the live servers back in the day when there was camp lists to hunt in certain areas. I liked the thrill of going into a zone to discover I was the one early enough to be at a specific mob camp, and the added thrill of wondering if someone would KS me once it popped. It's a way bigger adrenaline rush than PvP, just my opinion.

Great advert for Red... Why would you want to play on a server that has people like the above on it?

To beat them.

Except you can't KS anyone on blue or you get petitioned. Also, regarding highly contested camps and raid targets, prepared to get rule lawyered.

Rule lawyering and petitionquest very much exists on red as well.

Just helped a leveling ranger with a couple of JC items and a new starter asked if I'd make him some MR bracers when he gets some plat and can make it to Freeport... "of course", I said [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

This is the one thing that irked me about Red, Swish... no one plays in the Qeynos area. The question is, why not? It's the best XP/money in the game for newbies.
