Np. Midgard was my home realm also, and for a long time I didn't even touch the other realms. Even when I first started up on Uthgard, I went to Midgard first, Albion second. and Hibernia third - and my time in Hibernia was definitely the most fulfilling!

I'm not sure what kind of restrictions will be in place for this BETA, but you don't have to commit to any one realm if you want to try out the others and their classes. If you have any questions about any of the realms' classes, feel free to ask, I'll idle on IRC any time I'm around.

It was up for more than 7 years prior to going down in January 2014. The reason for it was the revamp to make the server even "more classic," and implement a fully working Shrouded Isles expansion, whereas before only some of the SI classes were present. We all thought it wouldn't take more than half a year, that's pretty much the reason I made that other thread and tried to put together a "P99er Guild." It's a shame it took them so long to reach this point, but on the other hand - they completely wiped the player database, so everyone will be starting from level 1 and there won't be any high Realm Rank players around to kill the fun for the newcomers. This re-launch is something very unique because of the "fresh start" for everyone, although it'll happen twice in one year if it goes live soon after the BETA, cause the characters made will NOT carry over.

I've only played midgard and this was eons ago, might give this a go. How does the Eldritch stack up to the Runemaster?

Check this out: Class Descriptions for Hibernia

Eldritch - Wizard class; mainly direct damage spells in both base and spec lines, they also get an AE Mez in the Light/Sun spec, as well as Nearsight, which lowers the casting/shooting range of enemies who either cast or shoot with a bow, etc VERY USEFUL spell in PvP, it's bolt-range too. The Moon/Mana spec has some good utility in it as well; it features the strongest PBAOE spell in the game, DD+Snare & the AE version, single and AE Disease (disease in this game slows down your movement, and makes all heals on target do only 50% of their value), there's also the single target STR/CON debuff, as well as an AE version later in the spec. The Void/Eclipse spec features a spec bolt (so you'll have 2 bolts if you spec in this line), there's also an AE DD, and GTAOE (which is known as ground target AE, means you can cast on a certain loc whether it has targets in it or not), and last but not least; resist debuffs for Body, Spirit, Energy, they have 3 strength levels, -15, -30, -50.

Also check out the Char Builder link under my sig, so you can see exactly what spells you get at which levels and with which spec.

For those of you who are playing for the first time or haven't played in a very long time; Base spells are spells you get automatically as you reach a certain level, and Spec spells you only get when you spend training points into said spec. Every caster, healer, and some of the melee hybrids get both types.

So to use the Eldritch as an example here, they get a single target Stun which gets longer in duration as you level up - first version is only 3 seconds at level 5, while the final version is 9 seconds at level 46! It can be extremely lethal, especially if you combine it with a PBAOE bomb or two, can drop people before the stun ever wears off.

However, unlike EQ, CC spells in DAoC start an immunity timer which lasts 1 minute after a certain spell has been used, so if you use the stun - after it wears off, the target cannot be stunned again for 1 minute, this affects every type of CC spell - Mezzes, Roots, Snares, and Stuns.

Eldrich wins every. single. time. Assuming you both aren't bolt range and they don't get lucky. If they land a level 10~ ish nearsight on you. You're gonna have a bad time. They gotta be really lucky though. However, as a Hibernian caster you have faceroll to victory with STUN! You don't even have to spec to get it either~

sorry if this has been asked already:

buffbots are not allowed I assume?
buffs from other players have a limited range?
only 1 char can be logged in at the same time?

Very exciting prospect !

Will the server be a progression (fingers crossed) to 1.65 or will it just start at 1.65 and stay there?

I first started on the Percival server as a Paladin - much loved in pve groups but I remember being pretty gimp in RvR. It took effort to bring me down but I was not threat so it was pretty much save me for last... ended up rerolling to Guinevere Hibernia as an elven void eldritch and I absolutely loved it. Void spec with secondary in Light (for a pretty decent aoe mez and nearsight!) and just enough Mana spec for the first PBAE to use for detection/scare off stealthers.

I have a short video somewhere of a Blademaster I made for the BGs where I ran around pretending to be a Ranger to bait out stealthers... I'll see if I can find any of them.

I've no idea if it will be progression style, I did suggest it to them on their forums 2 years ago, would be way more fun to play the game without any Spellcrafting or Alchemy IMO.

We'll definitely need someone to be an Enchanter with the Moon Spec for the PBAOE, the Pet Focus Shield, and especially the Heat/Cold Resist Debuffs! Me being a Moon Spec Mentalist would also be the ideal counterpart to Enchanters, with Mana Regen, the strong Heal Over Time, the stack-able DoTs, and the very lethal Heat-based nukes out of the Sun Spec. Resist debuffs for elemental damage have a much bigger potency in this game than in EQ. A Caster-based group out of Hibernia can be very deadly even at low-mid levels if people learn to exercise their teamwork!

Btw, if anyone wants to see what the OLD RA spec system is going to look like, use the Character Builder here instead of the one in my sig.
