Either way they are already laying off people so it doesn't look good. Probably a skeleton crew left just to keep the lights on at this point.

MMORPG.com says it has a source claiming that Daybreak is currently in acquisition talks with a number of studios, including Ashes of Creation company Intrepid Studios.

In speaking on background with our sources this afternoon, we are given to understand the number of people laid off was around 70, not 100 as earlier suggested. At least one source believes the layoffs are completely unrelated to the ongoing Columbus Nova shenanigans and instead are a direct result of H1Z1’s poor performance and in fact have been planned for a while, which does make a certain amount of sense (we’ve been tracking H1Z1’s downward trajectory for months now).

Daybreak went home for the day after layoffs. Office is literally emptied out after the layoffs.

Whether it means anything, I dont know. home for the day around noonish.

Intrepid Studios has been showing their MMO Ashes of Creation at recent events such as PAX West, GDC, and PAX East. The company has made a strong commitment to revitalizing the MMO genre. Rogean likely met some of the future developers and owners of the EverQuest IP at PAX EAST.

If he stopped by the Ashes of Creation guys or Intrepid Studios booth, then he met the men who are going to be attempting to acquire Daybreak games or at least the Everquest IP.
