I think its in the video somewhere... the interviewee states that people are unable to come to sensible conclusions anymore, despite a wealth of facts or evidence that's put before them. That's where the media can come in and clear up any grey areas... depending which brand of news you want to hear you can put yourself in one camp or the other - divisions form where there was once relative peace and each side bounces off each other until there's an explosion.

Progress to some is like regression to others, again... tune in to find out what your news brand is saying on that.

Personally I've seen the BBC (very left) manipulate pictures of riots in London to cut out the part of a photo where a protestor has a machete raised in the air against the police, and I've seen some fairly bad misinformation going around Facebook and other news sources from both sides. Where once there was trust in the media, everyone is now either forced to filter through the bullshit in hopes of landing at the truth... or they give up the quest and watch Netflix/Twitch/etc.

Universities have been very liberal leaning in the UK for a long time, arguably moreso with each decade as its opened up from young white men only to just about anyone and everyone. So naturally with a diverse student background you're not going to see much in the way of patriotism because international students and any BAME (I hate the term) students aren't going to identify with it.

I personally think the reason there is so much misinformation to filter through is because the access people have to supplyhing it.

Turning on the TV or looking at the internet, even on the top news outlets, is tentamount to walking down the street in the old days when people were just standing on a box yelling about whatever random idea they had.

We have to sift through everyone's crazy ideas, even on the top 5 news networks, it's all just become glorified soap box ranting.

Like, to me the news has become more like what I imagine a prophet in the old days would be like, than what I would define as journalism.

"Ohh this is it, this is the big end, ohh this will get him then you'll see the end is nigh! The enemies of good are abound! Repent Repent!"

People want things to be good, liberal idiology is good. It's a want for things to be nice and great.

So it makes a lot of sense that people would tend to like it.

Especially in an age where they have to fight less and less to stay alive.

10000 years ago a liberal would just be left to rot while the tribe would fight against impossible odds to survive.

But now, we're getting close to a point where you may not have to fight to survive at all.

What are the options? Kill ourselves to avoid that so we have to fight to survive because we think without doing that satan wins?
