![]() If we are going to restrict speech to save lives and health outcomes we have two possible positions on a spectrum
1 would be the current Twitter, which seems sort of an anything goes. If Twitter devolves into a cesspool of misinformation and bigotry it will chase 90% of decent people away, fail as a platform, and in that regard will be a decent experiment that type 1 does not work In the middle of the spectrum we have how YouTube and the like currently operate. You can talk shit about trans people there and usually get away with it But I propose a new type, on the other side of the spectrum. A type designed to save lives. This social media will require anyone who makes an account to allow social media to do a background check. Any person with a history of multiple incidents of violence and especially gang activity WILL NOT be able to make an account. This is because, according to interviews I’ve seen of gang members, a lot of gang beefs, and just beefs between young poor thugs in the ghetto, start or continue over social media. And sometimes end up in murder. Taking social media away from poor violent criminals will probably prevent more actual death than from all the 4chan inspired mass murderers combined, in terms of total deaths For the health component, social media should go full credentialism. In order to post ANY opinion or recommendation about health, wellness, or medicine on social media you MUST show proof of a medical doctorate or a graduate-level degree in a related field. Most of my favorite heath and wellness experts I follow do have graduate degrees in either medicine, exercise science, and/or nutrition, so this wouldn’t change much about the information I take in. There are, unfortunately, some very smart/informed but not formally educated people like Derek from MPMD youtube channel who will be shut down, but unfortunately sometimes you gotta wash the baby out with the bath water We have experiment 1, let’s see the experiment of the opposite: major speech control meant to save lives and protect health. If that starts to work, let’s restrict harder. Let’s make China jealous, IMO

It's about stopping the government from censoring speech. In fact, the right for private companies to censor whatever the hell they want is protected by the very amendment you reference. (Now, that being said, even the 1st has limits: no yelling "fire" in a crowded theater and all that.)

I don't particularly care what grown adults over the age of 18 choose to do. Have a blast, live your best life etc.. kids being exploited and abused is the whole issue. Lots of lgbtq people oppose this child drag show shit too, btw. Not to mention "gender affirming healthcare" which is another insidiously deceptive euphemism that skirts around ever describing what is entailed within it (much like "women's reproductive healthcare" which actually means killing a baby and throwing it in the garbage).

Because it's shitty and undemocratic in nature to stifle speech period. No matter who is doing it. And the 1st Amendment absolutely protects your speech from private people/groups. Look up "Heckler's Veto". That specifically protects your speech from private violators. And we've already proven that the US Government can't separate itself from private companies like Twitter and Facebook, so the 1st Amendment should absolutely apply here. Full fucking stop.

They won't consider any of your concerns. We have to respect their concerns. We have to obey their little social needs, but if you have any opinions or worries, fuck you. You have to sit down, shut up, and listen. Fuck them.
