The fact that Verant chose (very deliberately) not to do this has always boggled my mind. I can only conclude that Mages were so hated by the general population (after kicking ass in classic) that they purposely "punished them" with a nearly impossible epic in the next expansion.

I just don't understand why else they would have done it, as it defies all game design logic. But whatever the reason, it seems even more pointless here on P99 than it did in classic.

They were epic items, meant to be the hardest thing in game to obtain (in era) requiring that you kill the hardest mobs.

Yep. Mage isn't even a class I play but like, SKs got fear sword moved from CT to 3 golems; bards got a spawnable version of trak with it always having the guts. More epics for more players, except mages...

With one change inny becomes a valuable raid target which would spread competing guilds out. And another revamp would/could put minis out of reach of farmers, or at least delay their efforts, allowing guilds to get in on the action.

The change was meant to make earth staff, earth caller, etc more attainable (from what I understand). IDK whether the p99 minis implementation is off, or whether the inny drop on p99 was far too common, VI just messed up these epic pieces or VI simply lied about their intentions.

Also something I have thought for awhile especially since inny loot sucks now. Very weird a god has loot worse than BoB

If only he was a loot pinata containing all of the good mini loot, and then maybe just 1 of his revamped novelty drops. Also, all kinds of backwards that he doesn't even drop eye of innoruuk anymore. The minis pocketed his eye(s) because they're that filled with hate?

Nah keep them historical. Give us the Ancients but they just drop primals (at a rate similar to the old warders) and prismatic scales, 4 more targets for guilds to go after
