Trump before he left office had a deal with the Taliban and reduced our forces to only 2,500 in Afghanistan. Calling the Taliban smart and sharp.

No doubt the explanation from our US troops were true. There was little to nothing they could do to reduce the injustices taking place before their eyes with so little US forces and support in Afghanistan.

This was Trump's deal and even though it was continued under Biden's presidency thank god there were less deaths than our allies had to endure when US troops left northern Syria.

Trump’s deal involved peace talks that never took place:

Trump’s deal with the Afghan pullout involved peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban

Those peace talks FAILED. Now it doesn’t take a genius to go “hmmm, the peace talks failed, therefore there can’t be peace. So what is the opposite of peace again? Oh right, WAR. So what do we do when the Taliban decide to go to war? How will we get our citizens out?”

Let’s say the war was more even and involved the Afghan military not being cowards. So there’s a back and forth of mortars/rockets and automatic gunfire. You think the US citizens would still want to get the fuck outta there? Yep. Why was there US troops still there? Could it be because a peace had not been established? Maybe?

The takeover was fast, not instantaneous. And since the peace talks had failed, there should have been the ever present notion of what to when war inevitably began. And it was even predicted when Biden withdrew the last of the troops. And Biden said in interviews “nah fam, it’ll be fine”. Narrator: But it wasn’t fine. It wasn’t fine at all
