The only people who don't want to a wipe are Nihilum and NONE of them will quit if it happens. And before you start saying otherwise, lets be honest bros, you aren't going to quit. This is your life.

That being said, what is the downside?
The people crying wipe are the ones that lost, and know they can't win by pvp/competition.

If GM's decide to wipe so be it. This is my first emu, and will likely be my last. There is no way I'd start over, and 0 chance I'd play on a box where wiping was the solution. Why would anyone want to level up when they know the box could just get wiped again?

I also disagree that Nihilum members wouldn't quit. After the time that many people have put into this box and leveling/gearing, I think it would be likely that nihilum would lose the highest % of people. But I think that's why people suggest it. They see it as the only way to 'win', and don't care if it kills the server.

What you can't seem to understand (or don't want to acknowledge) is that you are just reinforcing my point. Yes, you won, and yes, the opposition cannot win by pvp or competition.

So, like I said, do you want to just flail around on an 80 pop server, regearing alt after alt with VP gear and occasionally ganking someone not in Nihilum who pops in from time to time to see what is up?

I would be like the Ravens staying in an empty stadium after winning the Superbowl and just running around in circles.

Start another season, IMO (unless all you care about is runed mithril tunics)

That's actually a solid argument. Server was won, lets do it again.

Problem is the server would lose a lot of it's players. The playerbase that put the most time in would be the least likely to come back. Personally I'd start looking for another classic(ish) server that didn't do wipes, or play another game. You make a good point though.

I really don't think so, though.

1. Like I said, its about as bad as it can be right now. You put a lot of time in but when there isn't any competition there is really nothing to show for it. You can't be depriving someone of what they have earned when there is nothing to deprive.

2. You and your buddies would cry foul but I guarantee there would be little attrition. The idea of forming up again and engaging in large scale chaotic PVP in classic zones is too much to resist from people who clearly like this game a lot.

3. The "fear of another wipe" argument does not hold up because this would have only been resorted to in a desperate situation.

Oh I know, it's a terrible idea. Just wondering if people actually believe it will fix things, or whether it's just trolling.

It would fix things temporarily.. till the same, or a different group rose to zerg ffa. A fresh start always temporarily increase playerbase, popularity, hope, and sense of rush. It would even personally be good for me as a developer to have unreported low level bugs discovered. It should not happen, though. Wiping characters isn't going to happen, as per Rogean and I agree with it.

From day one, I believe it should have been teams (2), item loot, and anti zone-plugging code. People thought it was too hardcore. Hardcore mechanics keep things in check when there are hardcore players. My IMOs.

I understand where you are coming from, but at the end of the day you are choosing sticking to your guns over saving the server/providing enjoyable EQ PVP for more people.
