Well what I'm asking is can that be done to every updated world texture to further smooth things out or would it not do anything useful? Was wondering if that is something worth trying.

Didn't realize those screenshots were so dark. I'll try to get some better ones of Mustache Man tonight.

Savok: I did have that installed but I meant go further with it, if there was anything anyone has tried with further refining the textures or if that would just be a waste of time, but I don't think anyone has done that. I might look at the files someday if I get bored enough.

You do know just how many textures there are in EverQuest right?

This is doable if an automated process would work because I don't think that anyone will ever be able to go through and recreate each texture manually. As Savok mentioned there's no telling how many there are.

I'm not sure how much better than the luclin we'd be able to get them though. It would depend on if those textures are already at max size. The thing we have going for us with the character textures is that we can increase them 4x which allows for greater detail.

So assuming that they aren't at full resolution already I would think the workflow would be something like this:

open texture
resize up (8x or 12x)
blur
run through Neat Image to sharpen
resize down to max allowable resoultion

If they are already at full resolution Neat Image might be able to clean them up some. Might be worth trying.

This is fucking win! I approve.

It is great how you guys are donating your time, just as the devs do, to make this server a better place.

Also, I second (or fifth...?) that i can get friends to play because of the textures. It is stupid and superficial but some people are really put off by playing pixlated games. I think they are just spoiled!

Anyway, keep it up. Great work.
