Also part of the reason I hate this mass immigration of commies fleeing their own failed tax/housing policies in CA and illegals from the border to my state. We don’t need the extra pollution
The automotive industry is managing to gradually turn even me against them with their peddling of crap like 5,000 pound Jeeps and Broncos and complete refusal to even try to be sensible. I grew up making fun of those ridiculous 70's land barges, and here we are back to making stuff that's just as heavy and absurd, and that we'll also be making fun of in the not-too-distant future. I think the government's present 10-year policy is going too far the other way--an over-reaction--but something's gotta give because the industry is becoming absurd and seems incapable of self control.

I realized the other day, almost with horror, while looking through a junkyard, that I'd rather drive an '81 Reliant than a '2021 Bronco. More to the point, I'd rather drive that design philosophy with 40 years of refinement rather than what amounts to a modern equivalent of a '77 LTD.

Ya, I haven’t been following it as closely, but I’d never buy a “land barge” (lol good term) just because of the super shit gas mileage they get. My work commute is like 25 miles one-way. And when I go kayaking on the weekends that’s like 60 miles one-way. I just got a new 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD, that’s what I rockin now (only do pickups because I do kayak fairly often, only because my dad absolutely fucking loves kayaking so it’s a way to spend time)

What I discovered when researching into the mid-sizes is that some are moving towards a smaller cylinder engine and turbo’ing them. I heard mixed reports that this may become more and more prevalent due to EPA and stuff. For example, the new Ford Ranger is a 4 cyl twin turbo. I was considering it as a possible purchase but was worried about the longevity of a turbo blower. But from what I heard that also has improved quite a bit over time

lol even the retarded large trucks are very very efficient because of cafe standards and technology.

They don't even do emissions anymore because even the worst shitbox is so efficient and clean compared to carburated.

it is possible to peddle large things now because of efficiency. Though, as a former mechanic, I only drive old ass shit and use my old diesel to burn waste oil and transmission fluid.

I am a one man superfund site.

Lol yeah, and if you cut off the cats or modify the diesel, thats ok too. Cause its just more efficient, right?

So that cloud of pollution hanging over cali, the smog of the 1970s, all that was fake. Mankind cannot effect the weather, you just said. They cant effect the climate, either.

Lets nuke the hurricanes.

the 1970s smog is from the leaded gasoline crisis lol. One of the greatest and most devastating metal poisoning in history but never talked about.

lemme tell ya about leaded gas though, keeps those piston walls CLEAN

The Tesla model S weights nearly 5,000 lbs. The F150 lightning will presumably weigh in at 5,500 lbs. Hummer EV is tipping the scales at almost 10,000 lbs.

Yes, some auto manufacturers are still pumping out heavy, gasoline powered cars. But you cant unring the EV bell and I think the move to EVs is accelerating ever so quickly.

GM is even making EV crate motors which bolt right into any GM bellhousing, allowing you to convert your classic muscle to EV. So to me, the writing is on the wall.

Star question mate, what could Biden have done about this natural disaster other than what he did, setting up area's with food, water and shelter area's at checkpoints?

I understand that these 1000 year flood events are becoming more frequent and he needs to take more climate action but what would you suggest?

Currently there is no Republican that will support green based infrastructure which would address this issue as well as create a better damm system (Ours are extremely outdated ex when damm gave last major giant flood in Louisiana.)

Please keep in mind this is after Republican led legislatures are not funding their own infrastructure improvements to stop flooding in their own states like what we are seeing now through better aquatic infrastructure

I really want more bold action myself, but how?
