i've killed lots of people in games but never in real life. i've played the shoot JFK simulator. i played manhunt back in the day. i say let it play out, i won't go to bat for steam or any credit card company anyways. i also won't bother boycotting steam.

i kinda think fantasy, even violent ones, are something of a valve for frustration. that frustration comes from a lot of sources these days. we are already very far from the world we evolved to succeed in. it's too late to turn back.

Sadly yes a new platform is needed for some of these more adult games like "No Mercy."

They had smut books on the bookshelves, too. The Real Barenziah had some extensive bodice ripping if I recall correctly. Whoever* wrote the Daggerfall books was a fantastic author. I'd spend hours reading and rereading the text file folder where they were all stored. A lot of them got carried over to later games.

*Looks like most were written by Ted Peterson. The Barenziah and King Edward books, a fairly huge chunk of the lore covering 25 books, were written by QA tester Marilyn Wasserman who the goddess Mara was named after.
