They should just sell the IP at this point. Like you said, nobody there is left who knows anything about the original game. All they have to do is remaster the game. That's it. Make a few QOL changes, add some quests, add some new items, revamp a few zones to make them appealing and they could do well.
Diablo 2 did it and it did VERY well. Some fall flat, yes. However if done right could be the magic bullet. Make the female characters super sexy (see Marvel Heroes/Stellar Blade) and people will literally leave EMUs for it.
Then, while they are doing that and having success, start working on EQ 3 or whatever. Simple plan but they are retarded and do not care about EQ or money.

yeah i don't blame a single person there for bailing for greener pastures, i enjoyed the 2019/2020 expansions Torment and Claw of Veeshan and the Kunark ones prior to that the kunark/velious/luclin reboots for the lore/6man content and i hadn't played seriously since The Buried Sea which came out in 2007 so i went from lvl 75 to 115 or w.e the cap was in a week, did the nerfed raid content in 6man form and unsubbed.
the IP is awesome they just don't give a single fuck enough to invest anything into it
