What exactly is it they built? A time machine so people stuck in 2001 can still feel special by out no-lifeing others? Most people would consider doing the exact same thing for that amount of time being stuck in a rut at minimum and being mentally disturbed at worst.

I don't know how many thousands of times I've hit a golf ball or picked up a chess piece. How come playing physical games with rulesets which remain largely static over the course of decades or centuries gets regarded as normal, but video games see different treatment? I like P99 in part *because* it's static. It's a viable hobby. I can use it at my own pace; I can put it down for a year and pick it up and it's still there waiting as it was. The ever-changing nature of most online video games harms them, insofar as I'm concerned: If I find a commercial online game I like, experience has taught that it'll only be a few short years, at best, before it morphs into something I detest.
