Yeah it seems counter-intuitive if I was a mob that I wouldn't flee if I knew there was some buddies around the corner and I was all alone.

As it is now mobs that are relatively close (but still out of assist range) prevent a mob from running, which is not correct. Snare was super duper important in dungeons because pretty much every single pull would start running and then agro the things right around the corner. Here you'd have to already have a substantial area cleared before a mob will start to flee.
Good stuff. I remember on live as a Cleric having to Pacify the living hell out of what seemed like a million mobs to keep them from running and agroing. Not the same to me on here as I recall on live. Maybe it was that we were not as good at the game as we are now??

Its been a while!

[S] Estrella of Gloomwater [51 Druid, Kedge] 11/02/2014
Holy crap this was annoying in so many respects. first of all shes a 3day spawn, which is terrible. 2nd there are always druids in kedge keep killing everyfucking thing so even when she was up she was dead instantly. I got the line on the timer from one of those druids. came back three days later and someone was already killing her at 7am.

so here we are another 3 days later and the clocks are ahead. good thing I didn't set mine back cause I would have missed her. anyway I check my 29 druid sitting at the entrance and shes not up. Im freshly rezzed in sky so i jump down and start buffing up. got a port from a guildie and i'm all ready to go when i zone in. luckily no one is here. i Head over to her spot and almost ran into her. I med the rest of the way up and calm the 2 mermaids in the upstairs room and the 4 below. I figure i'll charm the roaming mermaid and keep her behind the wall. no dice, she dispels every charm, i try and gate and i'm dead.

I revise my strat based on some of the other threads and go with the animation I haven't used in a longgg time. I calm everything again including the roamer and pull with tash and mez her. I end up mezzing the roamer too, i summon a pet and haste it and slow estrella and then start dispelling her. somehow i got to mez before that damn dmg shield. anyway i get her over in a corner behind a wall and let pet go to work. I think he did 11% before getting blown up. I got summoned and mezzed her again while keeping the roamer mezzed. summon another pet haste up and repeat. in between i re-bedlam and get some ToT on the roamer to keep up the mana flow. eventually get her down to 30% after 3 or 4 pets. shes getting some heals through the walls which kind of sucks so i start stunning and tanking a bit as im starting to run out of daggers. two more pets and shes finally dead.

I was pretty close to oom but got a good ToT near the end to keep it up. shitty loot, but lvl 29 druid got the rod of drones [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

in retrospect its a good thing i died on the first attempt cause i forgot to start video recording. while checking her spawns I beat dark souls 2 and also learned the rat guys area in the hole. So ill be heading there next and then its on to the big boys. Really happy to have this one out of the way and no - or *!

My new favorite way to kill Estrella now is to charm her and have her take on 4 mermaids at once [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I considered this, Im always scared of reverse charming in case the mob dies to a dot or I fatfinger my invis clicky or whatever. Especially with a 3day timer, eww

As a druid using strings that's easy. String her, AE root the 4 mermaids and do nothing but wait for charm break, then break swim away after summon and nuke

I've been through every page on this forum now and I haven't seen many shamans (without puppet strings). Is a lot of this just too difficult without being able to Lull/CC adds effectively? Pretty much the only class I've seen posting the higher tier stuff has been enchanters and that's it.

I would say solo GM is easily achievable for both enchanters and shaman(s?) without puppet strings.

I'm a torp shaman. I can say that most of the things on the solo GM is easily doable (except I haven't tried HS east mobs yet). I was just surprised that there are not many shamans that post on this forum, especially when there is an abundance of shamans.

How does Velious coming out affect this list?

Is it cheating if I wait do the solo-challenge until Zanderr has Velious gear?
