Monk + Shm = good camp splitting utility with FD great DPS and mend. A+ Pulls for raiding always looking for good monks.
SK + shm = awesome utility. great camp splitting, shm can slow immediately w/o root lower dps than other options. Great spell synch tho. A+ offtank / A- raid pulls due to cast time but can also pet track and train up/goaltend well. Warrior + shm = shaman will have to split camp with roots but warrior does better dps than a SK and is best tank, good warriors are a must have for raids an vital to raid success. Rogue + shm = shaman will again have to split. Either rogue can tank and still out dps other options or shaman can tank and rogue does insane dps. Rogues are also loved on raids. Any of these can tank with shaman slow until endgame. All of these combos are Able to level to 60 duo. Warrior and rogues who are probably most desired on raids will be limited on camp selection due to splitting capabilities. Monk and SK the world is wide open, SK has more utility but monks begin to get super OP once sky gear comes out all the way to Velious. I’d say If you are duoing go Troll shm and ogre Sk or monk, but any of the choices are fine. You could also consider Mage/shaman for a strong duo with ease of play.

I'd suggest planning to have either 2 sets of characters you'll level together or a power level toon in your first set.
So Shaman / Druid for you and Warrior or Monk for her, to start. If she's never played before its very likely she'll go through what most first timers do after they first see someone else doing some fun thing their class will never be able to do, and immediately want to try out that other class that calls to them. So you'll be able to do some power leveling / exp quest item farming if that happens. If you want to stick with Priest + Tank after leveling up your first toons, then I'd suggest adding in hybrid tank options + cleric for rezzes, and picking up one of the bajillion of enchanters running around to trio. Paladins will be able to rez eventually, and rangers will be able to do the hunter/forager cycle in kunark which isn't end game content but will make you some coin, and shadowknights would be a continuation of monk if she learns to pull - just with spells. You guys could always go bard/bard and never die, but then you'd be losing out on utility for future characters.

I'd recommend Shaman+SK or Shaman+Monk. Any combination of races that appeal to you and her.
In addition to the already-mentioned positives in terms of duoing and raiding, you'll also have the benefit of easy-to-find 6man groups since youll have a Priest+Tank. Also add a Chanter to make an immensely powerful trio that could hold just about any camp with ease.

Quote:
SK/shm are too low on dps to be a true power duo. It's more of a power trio in waiting; add anything w/ good sustained dps and its a powerhouse. SK/monk is a power duo because the dps is so huge. Of course that is kunark+, since the ultimate duo in classic 2 necros. Best group: 6 necros. Best raid: 1 cleric + necros.
