I was able to get it to work by adding my everquest folder as an exception for my virus scanner. Seems to be messing with it.

This should fix it.

why does my comp think this is a virus though? Any other way around this? I'm on a managed PC and I cannot add exceptions.

Because the .DLL that is our anti-hack functions very similarly to many viruses.

Or in laymans terms, because it is.

It's not a permissions issue. Rather, you add the .exe files in your EQ install directory to your AV excludes list, and if you use WinEQ2, do the same for it. May need to do the same for that .dll file as well, but I didn't have to.

Or just turn off antivirus whenever you open.

If you use wineq or some other launching software, you only need to turn off antivirus when you open the launching software and it'll let you load EQ after that even if antivirus is on (as long as you dont close the launcher process).
