Default Crash on first login

Without fail, on a fresh computer start, I can launch EQ (using Titanium Launcher or WinEQ2), log in, get to Character select. Soon as I click enter, I crash. I have to wait the 2 mins or whatever it is because trying again says I have a character in the world. But then, as long as my computer stays on, I can log in and enter on any character with no issues.

Anyone have this issue? Is this some sort of weird shader cache problem? I honestly have no idea how to go about trying to fix this.

i was having problems with switching characters, whenever i would switch it would crash.

not the "same" problem, but kind of similiar, how i fixed it was :

1) find/open the folder where eq is installed.
2) find the everquest.exe
3) set the everquest.exe to compatability mode for windows XP service pack 3
4) this stopped like 95% of the crashes i was having while switching characters, it might work for you too.
