I feel for the PVP folks. I understand how PVP in EQ can have a nice appeal. Most PVP games like mobas and FPS are just PVP for the sake of leaderboards, for the sake of points, for the sake of gloating. But EQ PVP has objectives beyond those things, because control of a frenzy spawn or a dragon kill hinges on the PVP that comes before it instead of just on mustering enough dudes to zerg the monster(s) down. No shards and no instances means everyone gets to know everyone else, and your reputation means a lot. And as "unbalanced" as many 1v1s can be in EQ PVP, at the group and larger level it really is pretty interesting. At classic levels, roots and mezzes are real; you've got dispels, nukes, melee, heals, divine barriers; you've got jousting and fall damage and charms; etc.

But all that aside, yeah. I tried red repeatedly and it never was very good, so even if it is true that it suffered because of mechanics and staff issues and not because of the players, I can understand why nobody wants to hear swish or anyone else ask us to try red.


If there's a legit PvP server coming and it maintains a critical mass population (I'd say probaby like 400 for classic?), I'll give it the old college try.
