Yep, the TMO links weren't meant to be a how-to in terms of diplomacy, only to highlight that they at least made an attempt to repair their faction with the rest of the server. That effort did seem to be more about damage control than appreciation for the larger community. Bread crumbs and circuses...which missed the point because players weren't 100% after the loot, but a chance to take a stab at that tier of gameplay together, either for the first time or once again after a decade's absence.
I likely benefited from some of those open BDA raids actually, but only really remember the TMO garbagenaire that wiped guilds again and again outside of KC, finally being slain after the fourth, fifth attempt that day? Thereabouts. Ruffel/AG regularly left targets up for other guilds with the idea being that doing so was better for the community and those targets weren't much of a challenge anymore so only smaller, less experienced guilds would be able to min/max the fun of the encounter, loot included. But even for players/guilds where that idea is barely an afterthought, it's still in their best interest to not con threateningly to the other guilds and unguildeds.
Ignoring all other BiS and just going by the number of players I've known who went months, years without koi/dagarn pants or aow leggings, I feel like Norrath should have seen the formation of its own <Sans Culottes> by now.
