prohibiting cross server trades because the staff was too lazy to find out who is RMT'ing but still have there panties in a bunch over people RMT'ing was the stupidest freak out among their series of stupid freakouts.

cross server trading was banned because there were people like TMO leadership, who had large sums of plat, working with RMTers, the RMTers would sell items, then transfer the plat to blue using TMO bankers, at a profit.
TMO bankers while not RMTing themselves were complicit and knew full well they were transfering RMT plat. it was providing a vehicle for the RMTers to make money, it had to be stopped. if you want to blame people, blame RMTers 1st, then blame TMO bank second.

either way, the banning of cross server xfers is going to slowly kill the red server. people invested in blue are just too afraid to reroll and start with nothing on the pvp server. if you're right, it would have been a better approach to deal with it by enforcing the rules instead of changing the rules. i get that it's a lot of work for them to investigate cross server plat xfers for rmt, but dealing with it instead of banning it is definitely the healthier thing for the box as a whole. a lot of blue -> red xfers are people who were going to quit blue anyway, and it keeps them playing.
saying this as someone who's never done a cross server xfer.

The war on RMT is stupid and this is a perfect example of a bad decision by the staff that punishes good players because of a few fringe cases of RMT; coupled their lack of willingness to do any meaningful investigations to stop something that they cannot and will not ever stop.
