I followed that other guide that used the updated texture files for some zones, and it really helped.

I recall that you could run the client in glide, with some tweaks, and am wondering how some of the custom wrappers could improve the look and feel of the game. If they can make old blocky nes, and ps1 games look more modern, it should go to say it can be done in EQ.

I like to run high resolution, and the game really shows it's age when you are running 1400x or higher. We don't really play this game for it's graphical prowess anyhow, but they really headed in the right direction with the more recent EQ2 models.

The taste of nostalgia from this game, had really left quite a burning desire for an EQ:Next Alpha or Beta invite.

Love it, love it, love it. I can't wait for the first download.

I am not a graphics guy but could you not just grab the graphic files from EQ2 and plug them in?

Will there be a graphics update on the weapons and other items as well?
It's not that simple. Graphics, models, and animations tend to be built for a specific engine. The graphics engines used in EQ1 and EQ2 are drastically different, not to mention that the models in EQ2 are dynamic (you can change the shapes of faces, eyes, etc), which adds an additional layer of complexity.

It's possible that they could be converted, but this would require reprogramming the client's engine entirely.

Can you guys do a huge favor? When you desgin Ogres and other races where parts of their armor show their skin, PLEASE make it so that the skin doesn't show. Bloodstained Tunic with red skin just looks retarded. Always always has.

It shows like that on all of the races I think, but I agree, it looks stupid.

Sadly I'm keeping it as close to Classic as I can and everything will be the same as it was, only much higher detail in the textures. I too agree that the colored skin looks nasty. Actually I hate it! But there is nothing I can do. I WILL NOT sacrifice classic style for a "better" look. Because if I was going to do that, where exactly would I stop? 15 years from now I'll have finished the complete overhaul of the EverQuest engine...

There might be a way to mask it off, but I haven't had the time to test any of my theories yet. But I think some of the Luclin textures did this somehow. I may be able to add that into the classic mix. Maybe not. No promises.

Another option for me is if the SoV texture looked significantly better then the classic texture I might try blending the two together. I've only done this for the Human Male Monk so far. I'm not sure if Ogre or Troll have their skin showing on the SoV textures, but that might also be an option.

Honestly I'm really looking forward to the Troll and Ogre textures. They both seem much more tricky and the reward is gonna be crazy awesome with those textures because they are stretched SO MUCH right now.

Would it be possible to touch up some of the old world weapons? No major adjustments, obviously, but some swords for example have no width, if whomever is holding such a weapon is facing you, it appears as a broken black line, if anything. Though I suppose it's doubtful anything could be done about that because it would by assumption require the actual dimensions of the model to be expanded.
