Default The Guess Who - No Sugar Tonight (Classic Rock 'N Roll)

The Guess Who - No Sugar Tonight

"No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" is a song by the Canadian rock band The Guess Who. It was released on their 1970 album American Woman, and was released on the B-side of the "American Woman" single without the "New Mother Nature" section. The single was officially released as "American Woman/No Sugar Tonight" and peaked at #1 on the RPM magazine charts (three weeks) and #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In Cash Box, which at the time ranked sides independently, "No Sugar Tonight" reached #39.

According to Randy Bachman, the inspiration for the song arose after an incident when he was visiting California. He was walking down the street with a stack of records under his arm, when he saw three "tough-looking biker guys" approaching. He felt threatened and was looking for a way to cross the street onto the other sidewalk when a car pulled up to the men. A woman got out of the car, shouting at one of them, asking where he'd been all day, that he had left her alone with the kids. The man suddenly was alone and his buddies walked away. Chastened, he got in the car as the woman told him before pulling away: "And one more thing, you're getting no sugar tonight". The words stuck in Bachman's memory.

Bachman then wrote a short song in the key of F♯ called "No Sugar Tonight". When he presented the song to Burton Cummings and the record company, he was told that the song was too short. Bachman and Cummings expanded the song by adding to it a song Cummings had written that was also in the key of F♯, "New Mother Nature". The song was originally written without the "in my coffee" and "in my tea" wording. The band was ordered to alter the lyrics to make the sexual connotation less obvious, though urban legends persist that "no sugar tonight in my coffee" alludes to veiled LSD references, possibly bolstered by the later lyric "a bag of goodies and a bottle of wine". Bachman is well-known for his anti-drug lifestyle.[citation needed]

The song was covered by The Shirelles on their "Happy And In Love" album released in 1971, and by Bang_(American_band) on their "Mother/Bow to the King" album (Capitol Records, SMAS-11110) released in 1972. Capitol subsequently released the song as a single (cat# 3474), but it failed to chart.
John Presho, who knew Randy Bachman and worked security for his band Bachman-Turner Overdrive, gave us this account of how the song came together.

Default Jefferson Airplane - Somebody to love (Best Version)

Jefferson Airplane - Somebody to Love

Jefferson Airplane - Sombody to love with a clip made with extracts of fear and loathing in Las Vegas.
"Somebody To Love"
(originally by The Great Society)

When the truth is found
To be lies
And all the joy
Within you dies

Don't you want somebody to love?
Don't you need somebody to love?
Wouldn't you love somebody to love?
You better find somebody to love
Love

When the garden flowers
Baby, are dead, yes
And your mind, your mind
Is so full of red

Don't you want somebody to love?
Don't you need somebody to love?
Wouldn't you love somebody to love?
You better find somebody to love

Your eyes, I say your eyes
May look like his
Yeah, but in your head, baby
I'm afraid you don't know where it is

Don't you want somebody to love?
Don't you need somebody to love?
Wouldn't you love somebody to love?
You better find somebody to love

Tears are running
They're all running down your breast
And your friends, baby
They treat you like a guest

Don't you want somebody to love?
Don't you need somebody to love?
Wouldn't you love somebody to love?
You better find somebody to love

You HAVE to turn this way up for the best effect imho. 👵🤘🤘
This has a pretty sick instrumental rock intro for a full 1:02 before the lyrics start. The video is an EXCELLENT montage of passenger jets from all around the world.

"Jet Airliner"

Leavin' home, out on the road
I've been down before
Ridin' along in this big ol' jet plane
I've been thinkin' about my home
But my love light seems so far away
And I feel like it's all been done
Somebody's tryin' to make me stay
You know I've got to be movin' on

Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner
Don't carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner
Cause it's here that I've got to stay

Goodbye to all my friends at home
Goodbye to people I've trusted
I've got to go out and make my way
I might get rich you know I might get busted
But my heart keeps calling me backwards
As I get on the 707
Ridin' high I got tears in my eyes
You know you got to go through hell
Before you get to heaven

Big ol' jet airliner
Don't carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner
Cause it's here that I've got to stay

Touchin' down in New England town
Feel the heat comin' down
I've got to keep on keepin' on
You know the big wheel keeps on spinnin' around
And I'm goin' with some hesitation
You know that I can surely see
That I don't want to get caught up in any of that
Funky shit goin' down in the city

Big ol' jet airliner
Don't carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner
Cause it's here that I've got to stay

Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner
Don't carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner
Cause it's here that I've got to stay
Yeah, yeah yeah, yeah

Big ol' jet airliner
Don't carry me too far away
Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner
Cause it's here that I've got to stay

Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner
Carry me to my home
Oh, Oh big ol' jet airliner
Cause it's there that I belong

Default Loreena McKennitt --The Mummers Dance (Celtic)

Loreena McKennitt - The Mummer's Dance with very mpressive video of gorgeous Mexican landscapes, wildlife and an attractive model

A bit surreal but hauntingly beautiful to many including me.

Format CD single
Genre Folk, world, new age
Length 6:08 (Album version)
4:01 (Single version)
Label Quinlan Road
Writer(s) Loreena McKennitt

"The Mummers' Dance" is a single by Canadian Celtic singer Loreena McKennitt from the album The Book of Secrets in 1997. The song was a surprise hit in the United States, reaching #3 in the Adult Top 40, #17 on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart and #18 on The Billboard Hot 100.

The song is the theme song of the TV series Legacy. It was also featured in the trailer for the film Ever After, starring Drew Barrymore, and in the soundtrack of the Brazilian telenovela Corpo Dourado. The song was also made into a music video.

The song was frequently used on the late-night syndicated radio talk show Coast To Coast AM, when show host Art Bell hosted the show.

The song refers to seasonal Mummers Play performed by groups of actors, often as house-to-house visits.

It also featured on the albums Live in Paris and Toronto, Nights from the Alhambra, The Olive and the Cedar and the compilation The Journey So Far – The Best of Loreena McKennitt.

"The Mummers' Dance"

When in the springtime of the year
When the trees are crowned with leaves
When the ash and oak, and the birch and yew
Are dressed in ribbons fair

When owls call the breathless moon
In the blue veil of the night
The shadows of the trees appear
Amidst the lantern light

We've been rambling all the night
And some time of this day
Now returning back again
We bring a garland gay

Who will go down to those shady groves
And summon the shadows there
And tie a ribbon on those sheltering arms
In the springtime of the year

The songs of birds seem to fill the wood
That when the fiddler plays
All their voices can be heard
Long past their woodland days

We've been rambling all the night
And some time of this day
Now returning back again
We bring a garland gay

And so they linked their hands and danced
Round in circles and in rows
And so the journey of the night descends
When all the shades are gone

"A garland gay we bring you here
And at your door we stand
It is a sprout well budded out
The work of Our Lord's hand"

We've been rambling all the night
And some time of this day
Now returning back again
We bring a garland gay

We've been rambling all the night
And some time of this day
Now returning back again
We bring a garland gay

Default George Baker Selection - Little Green Bag (colour) (Classic Rock 'N Roll)

George Baker Selection - "Little Green Bag"

"George Baker and his Selection sit around a table drinking wine and sort of mumbling 'Little Green Bag' until the wine kicks in" Real recorded song plays during video.

Lookin' back on the track for a little green bag,
Got to find just the kind or I'm losin' my mind

Out of sight in the night out of sight in the day,
Lookin' back on the track gonna do it my way.

Out of sight in the night out of sight in the day,
Lookin' back on the track gonna do it my way.

Lookin' back

Lookin' for some happiness
But there is only loneliness to find
Jump to the left, turn to the right
Lookin' upstairs, lookin' behind!

Lookin' for some happiness
But there is only loneliness to find
Jump to the left, turn to the right
Lookin' upstairs, lookin' behind, yeah!

Lookin' back on the track for a little green bag,
Got to find just the kind or I'm losin' my mind

Out of sight in the night out of sight in the day,
Lookin' back on the track gonna do it my way.

Lookin' back on the track for a little little green bag,
Got to find just the kind or I'm losin' my mind,

Alright.

Lookin' for some happiness
But there is only loneliness to find
Jump to the left, turn to the right
Lookin' upstairs, lookin' behind.

Lookin' for some happiness
But there is only loneliness to find
Jump to the left, turn to the right
Lookin' upstairs, lookin' behind.

Pa pa pa pa pa pa....

Default Shocking Blue - Venus (Official Video) Psychedelic rock classic hit of 1969

Shocking Blue - "Venus' is a Psychedelic rock hit from 1969

From Wikipedia: "Venus" is a 1969 song written by Dutch musician Robbie van Leeuwen. In 1970, the Dutch rock band Shocking Blue took the song to number one in nine countries. In 1981 it was sampled[citation needed] as part of the Stars on 45 medley. In 1986, the British female pop group Bananarama returned the song to number one in seven countries. The composition has been featured in numerous films, television shows and commercials, and covered dozens of times by artists around the world.

"Venus"

A goddess on a mountain top
Was burning like a silver flame
The summit of beauty and love
And Venus was her name

She's got it
Yeah baby, she's got it
Well, I'm your Venus
I'm your fire
At your desire
Well, I'm your Venus
I'm your fire
At your desire

Her weapons were her crystal eyes
Making every man mad
Black as the dark night she was
Got what no one else had

She's got it
Yeah baby, she's got it
Well, I'm your Venus
I'm your fire
At your desire
Well, I'm your Venus
I'm your fire
At your desire

She's got it
Yeah baby, she's got it
Well, I'm your Venus
I'm your fire
At your desire
Well, I'm your Venus
I'm your fire
At your desire

Default A midi track from a fun MMO older than UO called Nexus TK

NexusTK Old music (Tiger)

I'm pretty sure this music played throughout one of the main 2 towns in Nexus back in the late 90s and maybe early 2000s. There were only 4 main classes in the game, but 3 or 4 subclasses for each main class. Most of the subpaths were player run with heavy roleplay and politics. Player run special events with decent prizes were constant when the game was more popular. PVP "Carnages" with 4 teams were usually the most popular events. Everybody on the winning team won 1 nice piece of loot each if I remember correctly. Occasionally world changing events would occur and affect all the main areas of the game for a time until players solved the problem etc or helped a Gm run princess or King solve it. Graphics were never too exciting but most of the people in the classic era thought it was FUN. Personally, I played both a rogue and mage to about level 90. I never got to experience a subpath but had some good interactions with a few like when I needed to check my karma level with a diviner mage or get price checks from merchant rogues. Participated in around 10 pvp carnages probably, several "fox hunts", a few raffles, trivia contests, & poetry readings. I think I played around Yuri 28 to 40ish in game? 1998 to 2000 Earth time. From wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexu...m_of_the_Winds:

"" NEXUS: The Kingdom of the Winds (Korean: 바람의 나라), alternately known as Nexus TK or simply Nexus, is a pay to play MMORPG, currently run in the US by Kru Interactive. Nexus began as a U.S. version of the Korean game 바람의 나라 (Baramue Nara, or simply Baram) developed by NEXON Inc. of Korea, and is loosely based on Korean mythology and on a series of graphic novels by an artist named Kim Jin. Development of Baram began in Korea in 1994 and the game was released on April 5, 1996.[1] One year later, it also entered beta in the United States, going commercial in 1998. In 2005, the US subsidiary of NEXON changed its name to Kru Interactive and took over running Nexus, Dark Ages, and Shattered Galaxy as an independent company.[2] Most of the employees of the subsidiary were laid off but the management remained the same as it was when the company was a subsidiary of NEXON.

NexusTK is set in a land similar, geographically, to the Three Kingdoms of Korea. Other lands such as Han and Ilbon, though not present in the game itself, are often referenced. In addition to the three kingdoms, there are nine villages in which a player may live. Three exist for each kingdom, containing houses which players may rent for a fee. Homes may be customized as a player sees fit using "floor plans" offered for homes of different sizes.

Perhaps the most distinctive feature of Nexus TK is its tightly knit social architecture and ability for players to rise to prominence in important community roles. Guilds (known as clans) cannot be freely created, and come into being through a months-long process in which the clan's leadership and growing membership pass numerous in-game trials to prove their worth. Since the game went online, only 19 clans have been founded. Clans are rewarded with custom locations, NPCs and items in-game. Each class (known as a path) has three player-led sub-paths, each with its own council of dedicated players. Like clans, sub-paths have special abilities, locations, NPCs, and items, and are entirely player-controlled.

Even the game itself is partially player-run, with a very small number of Game Masters (often one) in charge of the game, and a much larger number of staff-elected players known as "Archons" controlling game affairs. Players also run the in-game justice system, a class-based tutelage system, scheduled in-game PVP events, and even, to a small extent, the kingdoms themselves. It is not rare for prominent players to hold such positions for as long as a decade. Players in positions of power and players who are not often find themselves at odds, and throughout the game's history there have been many accusations of nepotism and unfair treatment, however, never with any serious effects. All community roles are heavily steeped in roleplay within the numerous interwoven player-written canons for each clan and subpath. ""
