I did pick Prexus, but only because he sounded more interesting. Is it actually important or are you joking?

I think the only real benefit for Prexus is saving some factioning time later on for epic.

Mostly small bronze drops in Unrest. Erudites wear Medium. Banded's cheap and decent for the cost.

No one else suggested it but check out these 2 quests right from the old hometown, with some of the armor slots filled up you can concentrate on some good ac/hp bang for the buck gear, Kobold Bone Gauntlets are nice, maybe a Chipped Velium Amulet:
