Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure most threads have been about how mob run speed is too fast, not about how PC's run too slow.

If you want to get scientific about it why don't you do a series of speed tests on live/p1999?
  1. Teleport/Gate to a specific spot in a zone.
  2. Use true north to ensure you face the same direction exactly always.
  3. Start timer & Auto-Run (use a zone/path that has no obstacles in your running path).
  4. Have an obvious end-point & End timer. e.g. zone line (this would have to be north).
  5. Probably would want to use a zone/track that is as flat as possible and is still the same on both servers.
  6. Do this many times on both Live/p1999 and calculate the difference (if any).
  7. If there is a difference and p1999 is slower it should be possible to give players an innate run speed of 5% or whatever the difference is. There were AA's for this also, so it should be possible to do.

lol, no you can't.
At least not like on live you can't.
I remember going half way across zones with crap on me and outrunning them with jump.
Here you just get owned.

On this server I can outrun mobs just by jumping, but just to be clear, strafe running works too and has never screwed up on me. Someone should really clarify whether there's an issue with mob runspeed or PC runspeed at play here, I think only a few people in this thread understand the distinction. Nimothar's idea is good - did they ever change runspeed on live?

My current assumption is that NPC run speed is turned up a tick to compensate NPCs for not being able to Move + Attack in the same frame. Otherwise IDK what is wrong other than the developers not knowing the right value and wanting to estimate high.

It's impossible to outrun mobs on this server unless you run on governmental bandwidth internet.

For normal people its simply not possible to get away from mobs, with run strafe jump snare sow etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

I have tried everything and unless im at Cheetah/bard speed mobs are right on my ass.

Its bullshit.

and not classic.

What can you do? nothing, they wont change it, its been stated. Live with it.

As a Gnome, I can jump the pit... I'm a master at jumping. Hence why run speed is fucked.

it's like you make the atomic bomb (server) and you don't want to let other countries (guilds) have nuclear secrets (under the radar information). it's gm's business and no one else's or else everyone gets nuked. letting Iran or North Korea beta test and keep the successful nukes, makes other countries uncomfortable.
