Todays topic is venezuela and an attempt to clarify the leftist platform on it. With trump supporting regime change with Juan's declaration of presidency over Maduro, Russia and China are supporting the current socialist totalitarian regime.

Are you with china and russia, or trump?

This is a pretty honest, brilliant analysis on how we ended up with Trump. And I agree and have fallen into some of the pitfalls he describes.

So, I'd like to apologize to SC, Throndor, Mick and crew. We didn't engage in proper discourse and name-called each other rather than talking about the actual politics/positions (you guys were just as bad, so don't suck your own dicks too much).

I'll try to stick to the policies and positions more in the future.

That's the thing. We've been waiting for viable policies to come from the left for quite awhile now. Those of us that voted for Obama (twice, i might add) were expecting him to enact meaningful change; instead, all we got was a focused attack on middle class america and ANTI-WHITE HATE, while his administration abused their power to make and keep themselves rich.

Quit trying to put a stranglehold on the middle class and "close the book" on capitalism, and provide the creative and innovative approach to problem-solving that we need.

The left needs the right to slow their role when they get too authoritarian and communistic; the right needs the left for their innovative approach and new ways of approaching historic problems.

He got a few points right, but it's not the full picture.

1) Pendulum swing. We had a Democrat in office for the last 8 years. This usually causes some change to happen. Same with Republicans.

2) The GOP were lazy bastards with no spines. This one never gets mentioned. A lot of the conservative voters were absolutely pissed with their representation in DC. For years.

3) Conservatives always wanted a "Business man" in office. We tend to believe business moguls and military generals make good leaders. Experience without the slimy, political bureaucracy.

4) Trump broke the mold. Up until then, we were used to seeing fake ass politicians. In an age of plastic surgery and photo shop, a lot of people were yearning for authenticity.

5) Trump is a charismatic leader. He turned the entire Republican around to follow his dreams and ideas, overnight. People were enamored with his leadership and bold attitude. He didn't seem like the type that would fall asleep at the wheel, when a lot of people were used to politicians falling asleep at the wheel (see point 2).

6) Trump tapped into people's anger regarding income-inequality. Catering to those who lost manufacturing jobs to China, etc. Conservatives may not talk much about income-inequality, but they definitely feel its effects and Trump ran with the sentiment.

7) Starting in 2015, the "SJW" culture really started ramping up and leaking into the mainstream. A ton of people saw Trump as a defense against this new trend, especially younger people.

8) The media has to compete with the Internet. That means if they want to survive, they need to be a little more sensational. The quickest way to get eyes on a story was to include Trump in it. The media ended up giving him tons of free press. Even if it was bad press, doesn't matter.
