Default Really slow animations after Dec Update

Hello friends [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I played P99 last spring and summer, on both my Windows desktop and my Mac laptop via Parallels, which allows dual booting. It worked perfectly and I never had to tweak any settings.

However, with winter here I have the itch to play again. I installed (copied into the directory) the latest patch files, and now on my Mac laptop, it runs hilariously slow.

Not like... "graphics/CPU lag." It's like the game was put into a timelapse photo. The animations (on the char selection screen for example) are very fluid... but unbelievably slow motion. Like, my char kicking toward the screen takes over a minute.

Logging in, it's a frozen world where every now and then the position of things update. Trying to walk begins the slooooow mooootion.

Any ideas / tips? Have any of you run into this and fixed it?

Thank you!

I've seen this also using Crossover on a Mac M3 Pro. I see it in the character selection screen as well. On a few occasions camping and going back in caused it to stop. But, even camping can take forrrrrever when it's doing this.
