Bottlenecks. Resupplying a demand that has been largely absent for a year thanks to covid explains the adjustments/hikes in prices. Remember when toilet paper ran out and everyone learned there were essentially two types? Supply hadn't anticipated that demand. Now it's not just toilet paper, it's everything.

That is part of it but Yellen and Powell priced that into their 2% inflation projection. The other part is they are proactively pouring billions of dollars to artificially inflate the market so their investment bank buddies continue to make money.
