Shaman Epic Faction change, latest patch, question

What effect does this have on new shamans that haven't started any part of the quest yet? Why did they change it in the first place?

Nilbog: lesser spirits for the shaman epic quest require indifferent or better faction. They no longer immediately depop upon giving a gem, but shortly after.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it has no effect on shamans. It should just affect other classes that start apprehensive to true spirit faction so that they can't raise the faction themselves.

If shamans also start apprehensive to true spirit faction then that means you will have to do some trickery to start the quest such as having an enchanter friend charm the lesser spirit so that it is indifferent to you.
