The original intent for separating the children was to make sure their so called parents (or caretakers) were who they said they were and not some sex trafficker, abuser, etc. of the children.

Now, by blindly releasing the children to the "parent(s)" or "caretaker" without proper vetting increases the risk of abuse to the children.

What would you do?:

1) Release them back into the Mexican desert

2) Give them to random people who claim to be relatives

3) Let them into the US to fend for themselves

4) Keep them safe and fed until their parents are processed

I was just saying what the intent was for separating the children, which has been going on long before Trump has been president. Is releasing the "family" into the general public without vetting the adults with the children best for the children if there's a good chance some of those adults have nefarious intentions for the children? It does happened way too often. The only other options are to hold the "family" as a family until the adults are vetted or just to deport them.
