This surprised me on that link:

"These things hit hard(90-110).But the great thing about them is that they do con indifferent and at the same time you can fight these mobs single with no interuptions from the others..."

Looks like it was changed shortly though.

This is not the case on p1999 at this point. It actually does mention in this thread about the change from not being animals to being animals at some point in velious. But I still have yet to find anything that that they ran faster pre-velious. And I still haven't heard whether anyone even knows if the run speed change was intentional or not. It certainly was not listed specifically in the patch notes all though it did seem to indicates fixes in NPC pathing.

I think Haynar was hinting at it here. I'm not sure if they're intentionally running faster, but it seems to indicate it's something he's either tweaking or planning to tweak.

I have more tweaks in mind for AC. But currently working charm resists, chanter/shm/mage npc debuff ai, npc's charming pets, some pathing issues when target changes, a few mob speed tweaks, adding doors to los code checks.

Doesn't refer to run speed and it's a few months after velious release but here's a bit from graffe on them at least being doable....

I hope this means they will be slowed down soon. Luckily I had a SoW on my Wizard when I just went to Raptors and they were still catching up to me. I had to side strafe run to gain any ground on them.

Sucks losing the primary quad kiting spot in game, I hope this is fixed soon.

Centaurs in SK also run abnormally fast from what I remember, though I don't recall kiting them on live until 2001.

Even snared they run too fast to cast the quad dd , they reach you before it can go off, thankfully I had levitate as well and ran away and gated, will avoid these completely until changed back. I was wondering why there were nobody camping either island when I arrived.

Pretty sure this is the result from that unexplained run speed patch a while back. There are still a lot of creatures that have faster than classic run speeds.
