Default display adapter?

Anyone have trouble with eq defaulting to Intel HD graphics and giving no options to use the NVIDIA? I could use some tips on this issue(windows 8)

I assume this is a laptop.

Here's what to do.

Try opening your programs by right clicking the exe file and "Run with graphics processor > High-performance NVIDIA processor". If such an option doesn't exist in your right click menu, you can add it in Nvidia control panel at: Desktop > Add "Run with graphics processor" to Context Menu.

If that doesn't work, there may be a manual switch on the front of the laptop that turns the GPU on/off (Nvidia gpu that is).

Pics for both below.

Thanks for the tip, however, there is no switch, and my everquest.exe is already set to run in high performance(nvidia) however, it defaults to the intel hd 4000 [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

try this:
right click desktop
select "Nvidia Control Panel" from drop down menu
select the category "manage 3D settings"
In both tabs ("Global settings" and "program settings") change the preffered graphic selector to high performance Nvidia processor

If that doesn't work, I suggest trying to download new drivers from nvidia directly. Followed by:

Uninstall your current driver through the control panel.
Restart and boot into safe mode (F8)
Run Driver Sweeper
Restart and boot to the regular desktop
Install the new driver
Restart

Is there a particular reason why you need to be using the nvidia....?

ie, are you lagging while using the intel graphics?

If not, i would just leave it alone. i can't imagine the HD 4000 is lagging while running *everquest*, so why mess with it? buy a second monitor and use that nvidia card to run crysis on the second monitor. while u med.

the intel 4000 plays the game fine, however, im having a misc hiccup every few seconds. I've tried to run it with 1 cpu through the launcher, it still happens. to krazed, ive done what you suggest through the nvidia control panel to no dice. i have the latest drivers installed through nvidia, but i will try to run the sweeper maybe
