I really dont understand what is the deal with this biden telling gas companies to stop charging us so much?

Am I to understand the price of gas right now, is just an arbitrary choice made by all the gas station owners?

What is the deal? So they buy gas for the same price that they did 1 year ago, but they get to charge us more? Why?

Could someone tell me what they are paying for the gas they are selling, and what they are selling it for, and explain why its higher?

I have a buddy who runs 20 gas stations and he tells me the margins have been static for a while. Basically Biden doesn’t know what he’s talking about, standard Biden move.
