Default Equipping NPC/pets with 2handers blocks quad

I was researching a guide to killing Brother Quinn and found something quite different.

Quote:
Give Brother Zephyl a 2Hand Blunt weapon, such as a worn or fine steel great staff. He will equip the staff, and this will eliminate his quad attacks
A few others in the thread echo this strategy.

Apparently in the time line of our server, mobs (I assume pets too) wielding 2 handed weapons should not be duel wielding, which is something I have not noticed.

well giving pets two weighted axes is suppose to make them hit harder as well but that doesnt work either

also torches still make pets DW - it was patched in to remove that but it didnt work.

I recall my guild trying to give OOA worn great staves to block his quad.

Ironic you mention this as in the same thread, "Isn't one of the recommended steps to killing Raster handing him a mino horn? No different than this. " implying non-weapon offhand weapons should PREVENT not allow quadding!
