Still Crashes at loading..??

I've gone through the FAQ (1-15) trouble shooting list..
all that fun stuff..

Basically though, I'm not getting any sort of error code/message at all.

When "loading" it gets as far as the loading screen/image (with the chick), the
"loading status" with the Project 1999 (in green text) bar gets about halfway.. and *CRASH*.. right back to the desktop.

Happens every time, I've reboot, powered down, reset router/modem, etc..
all the basics, gone through the .ini file, set the 800 and 600 (regarding windowed), compatibility mode, etc. pretty much everything I've concluded may have been needing tweaking on my end based on the trouble shooting list..

May very well be missing/overlooking something like an idiot.. lol

Any idea(s) and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

(Installed the Titanium 5 disk set and went directly to setting it up for here (to avoid any chance of it doing any of "their" patching, perhaps I wound up skipping any/some setting up steps from that end in doing so??) :-!
