I think people are worried someone is going to steal their pics or something, but I’m not attractive enough for anyone to want to use my pic and I can’t think of another reason to try to steal one

I guess someone could try to use photo to doxx, but the most common reason I’ve seen photos stolen (usually from attractive people) is to be used for catfish $$ scams

It’s a fairly new kind of scam, not just on dating sites but also popular games that have chat features, and social media. It’s actually fairly sophisticated and always tends to follow a similar process. The scammers are almost always from Lagos Nigeria
