Default How do I find groups to level with as a tank?

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to the game and have a level 7 pally that I'm trying to level. I'm am finding it hard to find groups to level with, as for example I got to crushbone and all the camps are already full. How do you fellow tanks go about finding exp spots/groups during your play sessions?

If you are truly new to server I will emphasize some advice: be proactive and be friendly. At all levels of play this is helpful. Putting up lfg tag with an ooc is a great place to start but don’t stop there.

Even at level 55-60 I always find the ball gets rolling faster if I actively seek out other ungrouped people to duo with. If you have your heart set on a camp even mention to the partner or 2 that you want to keep your lfg tag up and offer them to do the same.

Most people would love to do something rather than nothing. Some of the best groups I’ve ever been in started with a zone line duo that then became a trio … and before you know it we had a rocking group that could move in to legit camp areas.

You find this dynamic at all levels of play … from your current level right up through to the high end.

It’s a social game. Be nice, make friends, and profit!

First char to server? Make a caster get to mid 50's. Find a cash camp and buy a fungi + cof and play whatever you want.

- got to your level range area CB is great.
- the next part of EQ is socialisnig so start hanging around camps and introducting yourself, send tells, "hi? any room in the group? Looking for some exp!"
- also /ooc LFG! anyone want to form a group? Level 7 paly LFM LFG!
- patience!!!!!! Plan on doing this as part of the game, enjoy the view, try to snipe a mob, and be patient.

Others will come/join/invite! But it's by no means instant, unlses you're lucky!

If there are just a few people that wont let you in their group send them hate tells and spam insults at them and then post screens in R&F, please. edit: (jk)

Thanks for the tips everyone. I was wondering how do you all deal with getting around as a tank. For example, should I send tells to people in other zones to see if they want to form a group then try to port/walk over there? If I'm in cb and the group is oasis it would be a long trek for me to get over there. I guess what I'm asking is, how do you all deal with analyze the time cost it takes to go to a different zone vs just staying put and keep looking for a group where you currently are?

What I do at low levels is I go to a portal and then wait for druids/wizards to appear and ask to hitch a ride, usually it takes no more than like 5-10 mins, but if im impatient ill do /who all dial or /who all druid 30 55

or something and start sending tells.

I pay 1 plat per level when im porting with dial and if they dont want to port a low level person then I feel good about only giving them 7 plat after a port becuase screw someone who wont port a level 7 for free basically [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

At your level I’d mostly hunt in an area where I can get groups but solo some while looking. Once you’re higher level you can plan on traveling (or bringing someone to you).

For instance crushbone you can kill random mobs near the entrance or pop outside while you’re looking for group. Keep an eye on who’s at what camp. If you say “CC please” on /OOC (camp check) people will respond with what camp they’re at and you can ask them to keep you in mind if they’re full at the moment.

Remember reputation matters a lot in this game, you’ll find yourself running into the same people in your level ranger over an over. Since you’re new it might be worth mentioning that and that you’re open to tips / advice (and be receptive to feedback haha).
