Fat is essential and very healthy. That's why for example avocado, nuts and seeds are very healthy to eat. Even saturated fats are probably not as bad for us as previously thought.
I think the whole 'non-fat' thing is partially ignorance and partially something the food industry came up with. "Fat makes ya fat!". Although the real culprit is sugar. Take out fat and you decrease calories. Take out sugar and you alter the taste significantly to the point where a lot of people won't buy it anymore.
You should look into fat, seriously.
