WinEQ2 install/run issues. Is the app still recommended?

Each time I install it, once I click the icon to actually run it, it deletes all shortcuts for it on my desktop as well as the actual .exe for the program. I'm really not sure why at all. After that, if I try to reinstall, I get an error about not being able to access the .exe. That persists until I reboot. Then the entire process just loops again.

Any idea what's going on here?
