They even teach this shit in public schools, lol. It's not like it's some radical, niche political theory.

People are born free. All the founding documents of the US acknowledge this, that humans have inherent, inalienable rights. Amendments are just a few of these rights spelled out, intending to help make sure everyone knows what the government is NOT supposed to do... like infringe on freedom of expression, the right to bear arms, etc.

is this some kind of nerdy ass gotcha that they'd have to pass a law to restrict gun rights if the 2nd wasn't there?

No, it's called "Human Rights".

How am I not surprised a petty tyrant doesn't know the concept? lol

Can you propose anything to reduce school shootings? Anything in good faith bud. Keep in mind the school in Texas had cops present

I honestly don't have any answers.

School shootings appear to be a meme, much like truck attacks.

I would try to look what motivates these kids. What drives them.

Because we've had schools and guns for years and yet we've never had them happen at this frequency.

Is it because it's much easier to be isolated nowadays? Is it the 24 hour news cycle that turns these kids into notorious martyrs?

There's more to this story than just guns.

Banning guns would at best be like putting a band-aid on a gushing wound.

I would say its being on the internet talking with others from day 1 with no other grounds for what is normal. It's not a healthy place, it's great for an escape but not a reality.

I am not sure these kids are watching CNN and losing their minds, if they had one to begin with.

They may not be watching it, but they'll know they won't stop talking about them for weeks on end if they shoot up a school.

The recent Texas shooter even admitted to leaving some kids alive because he wanted them to tell his story.

Isolated and angry kid + wanting to be seen and heard + wanting to be feared by those who wronged him (which is everyone at that age).

Some of them want to be ironically worshipped like Dylan Klebold and "The Supreme Gentleman" Elliot Rodger.

It's the ultimate teenaged "I'll show them all" move.
