my brother who is a fucking gun nerd had a reasonable proposition. I cannot remember it because I glazed over at his autism but the long and short of it was that "Rifles are allowed as long as they have a manual chambering action."

Basically this means lever action, bolt action, etc. This prevents easy public access to, as Patriam pointed out, the AR-15 or any "assault rifle" which automatically chambers the next round for you to fire.

Growing up in a gun totin community, I am not afraid of guns. But you can literally be a retarded 18 year old boy who got some money from your uncles and walk into a shop and then out with a semi-automatic assault rifle for "deer huntin"
