Yeah its a real head-scratcher.
They picked the least "allegedly hateful" conservative to ban. Shapiro is far more toxic with his anti-Transgender crusade. Alex Jones mostly steered clear of championing the anti-Trans cause whereas Shapiro actually made his name off it.

I actually think that AJ is the test sample. To the left, it was easy to just write him off as some loon and cherry pick some of his content to get him banned. I bet the people who recently flagged his content to the monopoly tech corps were butthurt manchild marvel-tards who were losing sleep over James Gunn getting fired. That said, Alex Jones isn't going anywhere. If anything, he will GAIN viewers. That's how fucking stupid the left is.
