But if this didn't happen historically we'd never have a lot of the things we do, like America, or better labor laws than the countries we exploit now, etc

There is a way to stop these boring conservatives from turning into Nazis with words but look in this thread or many others for ways they shield themselves from change, or refute anything that challenges the world view they have been spoon fed by the wealthy people who exploit them

Violence won't solve it in this era. And people have a right to say very very fucked up things. You don't hear about it any more, but I remember crazy Westboro baptist church being protected by police as they yelled out "God hates f**s!" and "When US Soldiers die, God laughs!" They were protected by police because it's their rights to free speech, and we don't have a right to assault them because we don't like their speech. I dunno what ever happened to crazy Westboro baptist church though, I'm assuming they are still around somewhere

Violence will only beget more violence. Anyone willing to say really fucked up things, is not going to back down because a bunch of skinny nerds came to hit them with sticks. They'll just arm themselves and round and round it will go, more and more people on both sides getting arrested, getting felonies, and then not being allowed to vote. Voting, the thing that will ACTUALLY create change. It's completely counter-productive in this era

That's because you misunderstood the point: I am making the same one you are

This shit is nuanced, there is no one good side, there were people within the nazi party that tried to do ethical stuff when they saw how awful it had all become: Schindler, that guy who reported on the Rape of Nanking from Nanking, probably quite a few others

Conservatism may have caused the Nazis to kill a shitload of people, but they did purge a bunch of left-wing nazis in the night of long knives and on quite a few other occasions, even if the commies fought them later and in different countries officially and unoffically

Check out the confusing mess of the Spanish Civil War, it's full of all kinds of wacky shit like fascists collaborating with communists to kill clergy, monarchists fighting communists and fascists, clergy taking up arms, regular people fighting both or all sides, orwell throwing grenades
