Default Ruined Teir`Dal Great Staff?

I'm trying to figure out who drops this and I keep getting conflicting information.

http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=527

Zam says it drops from a "wandering warrior". I've been all over Kith and seen all kinds of skeletons but never a wandering one. It also mentions "On the Decaying Commander" which isn't listed in the mobs list:

http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?zone=20

From source:

Quote:
My 51 pally encountered him with his pet near the RV tunnel. Not sure if this guy is or is related to the "Risen Commander", as I have never encountered either one of them until recently. I thought this was the big bad Commander until I realized the difference in names; he looks like a big skelly with a 1/2 sized skelly as pet.
http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?zone=20

Magelo also lists that it drops off of several mobs:

I would like some clarification as to if this is dropping at all (since I've seen no "wandering warrior" or if my luck for everything else has just been very bad. Had anyone else seen this drop?

It may not even be classic. Notice that the earliest comment on your first link comes from 2003.

Hope you find the answer you're looking for. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

never seen a wandering warrior and I did kith a lot. that being said, I know theres a couple of the nodrop kith items (like the dagger) that have the mobs only spawning in very specific places, and only 1-2 of them in the whole zone.

Well it goes back at least as far as 2002 which is when the Lucy database was first created: http://lucy.allakhazam.com/itemhistory.html?id=6377

So I can pretty much guarantee that it was from somewhere in Classic-Velious.

Also notice that the image does not show Beastlords:

http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=527

Also the fact that it's a 16/48 ration dropping off a level 40+ mob (much better 2-handers were created in Kunark/Velious) would seem to indicate that this is indeed classic. This is of course mostly conjecture.

Originally, in classic EQ, Kithicor did not have high level undead. The zone was revamped about the time epics were added.

According to here:

Quote:
The story that came out with EQ Beta said that Tunare and Innoruuk were simply in the middle of thier usual spats and that Kithicor was just one of the staging grounds. He tried to blow a hole from Hate to Norrath in that forest and she tried to stop him.
Conflicts with:

it wasn't in the beta. It happened quite a while after release.
I have the stories. I'll post them above.
The actual kithicor part though, happened on Halloween , the first or second year of EQ.
Can anyone clarify?

The undead spawns in kith were around before Kunark released I know that (I'm thinking it started the first Halloween if not earlier). I remember doing mini raids for items there with guildies. I can't confirm this staff drops but I can confirm at least 2 other items with similar names drop in kith.

The undead where added when the PLane of Hate was opened, during the Battle of Bloody Kithicor GM event. That's roughly a year before Epics were added (since epics were not in the game when Kunark launched).

This was October of 1999.

I guess it makes sense for them not to have a zone of mobs that high when the game first opens. It would be nothing but a massacre of nooblets.
