Default Multiple backstabs in 1v1: worth the effort?

I can semi-reliably get behind an enemy aggroed on me, but it requires keeping it out of line of sight and I lose an attack or two. Coupled with the less than 100% chance of a full strength backstab, and I'm not sure if it's a more efficient way of fighting.

As a level 13 rogue, I'm assuming I will hit closer to the damage cap at higher levels, but in the mean time I'm not sure if I'm really doing more DPS.

I think it's an issue with the server's latency. I don't remember being able to get backstabs solo on live and it was one of the first things I noticed here. But to answer you, probably not. You're likely losing damage and taking more unless you're very very good at. By lv 20, you're gonna wanna be 100% leveling in groups. Rogues are the very worst solo class in game.

Can solo pretty easy into the 40s if you get good with Instill Doubt, even after the nerf to it's success.

Once you start running into level 40ish mobs (in Kunark at least) their hp spikes up to like 5-6k.

All right, thanks.

Unrelated question: Is there a general rule of thumb for damage vs delay for dps? I know there are all sorts of formulas and scripts for different versions and updates, but I was looking for a more vague "X dmg/Y delay is roughly X-1 dmg/Y+3 delay" just as a trend.

Mainhand: Best damage possible.
Offhand: Best ratio possible.

That's about all you need to keep in mind for finding Rogue weapons.

How do I determine a good ratio though? That was what I didn't understand. Is 3:21 better than 5:27?

closer to 1 as possible when divided:

3:21 = 3/21 = 0.1429
5:27 = 5/27 = 0.1852

5:27 would be better using this

Got it, thank you (math isn't really my thing, I appreciate you dumbing it down for me).
