I would still do sta... or sta/something...
I did ranger main (no gear) and you have to be pretty determined. Being awesome also really helps. Ranger suited me well while playing (and the groups that I played with would often want me back) because of my style -- I like to control the flow of the group, pull like a fiend and keep things spicy (aka not be bored). PS BTW, does it ever seem like druids are just lazy rangers? Most of the time, when I invite a druid to a group, I want a puller... but then they just sit there.... PPS BTW, does it ever seem like you invite a ranger and they pull badly and/or dps badly, and you think this is why groups hate on rangers and you just want to send them a raging tell about how they give rangers a bad name. PPPS But before that... you work on explaining how to chain pull, take as few hits as possible, maximize thee groups potential... but they just don't get.. and you realize that is as good as some players get. | ||

Itap hit the nail on the head. Unless on you decided on a colossal high that you wanted your Ranger to be the most Charismatic Bow-Stringer to ever walk Norrath, Velious gear will help you balance (nearly max) all your important stats.
It's my personal opinion that Stamina is wasteful on a Ranger, since 40-50 HP is not going to be the difference between life and death at higher levels. Wisdom is even preferable, since a last-minute snare or heal can save you better than a handful more hit points. Strength and Dexterity are the focus. STR for improving attack rating/base damage and DEX for bow hits/proc rates. That being said, I put plenty points into Wisdom since I rolled the somewhat dimwitted Half-Elf and I like to make pretend I'm a Druid. But I'm pretty much the opposite of a min/max'er. Which is why I'm playing a Ranger I suppose... =D
