Some people are genetically prone to getting fat and have a harder time losing fat. The internet is relatively new and before that a lot of good health advice was basically pay walled. Even if you did have access to good advice,

it varies widely. Some say eat no carbs, some say eat no meat, not to long ago (in the 80s-early 90s) low-far processed garbage was supposed to be good for you. Anyone remember those slim fast commercials? That's how retarded people were about losing weight back then.

Anyway, where I'm going with this, is a lot of time you would be as fat as a cow before you actually learned how to eat healthy...then it takes a ton of motivation. And its easy (especially then) to think its all for naught when 6 months later...you're still kind of fat.

Meanwhile, a lot of people that like to make fun of fat people are not ones that have struggled with weight issues themselves....they tend to be skinny ectomorph nerds that are looking for somone their superior to physically... because they are basically born stick figures and there is nothing they can ever do to change it in all practically.

It's OK when ex-fat people or swole jocks make fun of the fat. Not harry potter looking dipshits that eat choclate and french fries all day.

It's a very low percentage of people who genetics and disease/mediation related issues cause them weight loss issues. It's all very manageable these days. You have to want to manage it though.
