It's extremely ignorant to assume that native, ethnic Itals can't have blue eyes. Sure, if you get into the south they are mostly dark people but up north, Itals are almost all blue-eyed, dark haired, and fair skinned.

Source: me, I lived in Lugano, Switzerland (called Switaly because the language of the Canto is Italian, everyone is Italian, they just aren't poor because they live in Confederation Helvetica), and traveled extensively through regions of North and South Italy.

Furthermore, ethnic itals are actually totally white and can have blonde hair and blue eyes. The reason the uneducated think of itals as being dark and hairy is because of mongoloid invasion (pras attila) and insemenation thanks to the unwashed hordes. this bled through the eastern roman empire all the way to the west and is the reason some itals look like hairy potato boys
