I remember watching a group of 12people killing this guy in Rathe. From memory, he was a HUGE skeleton, so huge it makes giant skeleton look like an ant. I had a screenshot of this but forgot to back it up when I reinstalled my EQ.
I remember it was a quest for Sk's lvl49 spell, not exactly sure.

He's a little bigger than a giant skeleton.

Thanks for the complement, Krugnik.
Talisman,
His pet "cons" blue to me. He summons a monstous zombie that "cons" red to a level 50 player.
I had 4 other people help me kill the zombie. (It actually looks like a giant skeleton with dark colored bones.)

The turn-in NPC, Kazzel, would despawn once given the last required item, then quickly respawn in the vicinity before summoning a new pet. Oddly enough, it seems that the previous pet would remain up after the fact, and players could kill it for experience without aggroing Kazzel.

Well, as you can see the Necromancer summoned a monstrous zombie. It "conned" red to me, so it is at least level 53. It looks like a giant dark bone skeleton. Upon killing the zombie you loot a monstrous zombie heart.
Upon giving monstrous zombie heart to Kazzel D'Leryt.
Kazzel D'Leryt says 'Oh! Umm... Well... I was just playing with you... . Obviously you know I was joking... We had a deal and I will obide by the terms of our agreement... Here is my payment for your services... bye...
At this point Kazzel D'Leryt disappears, leaving his trusty pet. He respawns a few seconds later and conjures another pet. You also receive the level 49 Shadow Knight only spell - Life Leech. You can kill the rogue pet now to get some experience.

FYI also, the first time we completed the quest Kazeel poofed as expected, but he immediately respawned on a mountain top near some standing stones in the same valley, so you can do this spell in succession for several SKs as long as they all have their Pulsating talismans ready to go. Just med betweeen turn-ins.

A classic workaround discovered by several players through tinkering/jewelcrafting.

Update to this quest. Tinkerers at www.tinkering.org have found out that the gemcutter (a tinkered item) can be used in place of the Darfumpel part of this quest.
Take one gemcutter and one uncut hyacinth and put into a jewelry bag. Have a high-level jeweler combine these items and you still receive the faceted Hyacinth.
Surely Tinker/Jewelers will be willing to do the cut cheaper than Darfumpel. Find a Tinker/Jeweler and maybe save yourself a few hundred plat off this already expensive quest.

From the Tinkering Compendium
Can be used in the level 50 Shadowknight Life Leech spell quest. NPC Darfumpel (+4130, +900 in Rathe Mountains) normally charges 1000p to turn the rough edged Hyacinth into a faceted one. The rough edged Hyacinth Darfumpel
initially gives you for 2000p is placed in a high-skilled, jeweler's bag with the Gemcutter. When combined sucessfully a faceted Hyacinth
is produced avoiding the 2nd 1000p charge."

Gnomes can tinker an item called a gemcutter, that might be part of this quest.

Unsure whether this method works on Project1999, but have yet to see any mention of it on the forums or in game.
